MERCER COUNTY | Court action


These people were sentenced last week in Mercer County Common Pleas Court:

Michael Chavers, 20, of Sterling Avenue, Sharon, placed on two years’ probation and fined $1,000 for criminal conspiracy/possession with intent to deliver. Court documents state Chavers conspired with another person to deliver marijuana to third person May 10, 2006, at Bicentennial Park, Sharon.

Gerald Cottle, 26, of Prindle Street, Sharon, sentenced to two to five years in state prison for possession with intent to deliver. Cottle was arrested on Roemer Boulevard, Farrell, on Feb. 26 with 10.7 grams of cocaine,16 Vicodin pills and plastic bags of drugs, according to court documents.

Mandi Jo Hicks, 27, of Route 258, Grove City, placed on two years’ probation for theft by unlawful taking. Court documents state that in January, Hicks agreed to mail five money orders valued at $1,651 to another person. Instead, she kept the money orders and cashed them.

Jennifer Hurst, 32, of Jackson Center-Polk Road, Stoneboro, sentenced to 15 days to 23 months in jail for misdemeanor theft. She reported her credit card lost, then, knowing it had been canceled, used it to buy $1,050 worth of merchandise through the mail, according to court documents.

Joseph Mayerchak, 23, of Lamor Road, Mercer, sentenced to three to 12 months in the Mercer County Jail, followed by one-year of probation, and ordered to make restitution for theft by unlawful taking. Court documents state that on Jan. 20, 2006, he took a digital camera, portable CD player, shocks and spark plugs valued at $1,585 from Franklin Road residences in Coolspring Township. On March 2, 2006, he kicked another man at his residence, causing the victim to sustain scrapes and cuts.

Arthur Paige Jr., 32, formerly of Baldwin Avenue, Sharon and now of the Mercer County Jail, sentenced to 18 months to three years in state prison for possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance. Court documents state that on Jan. 10, 2006, he was apprehended at an Idaho Street, Farrell, address with 12 small bags of crack cocaine.

Shawn D. Robert, 40, of Alderman Avenue, Sharon, had his probation on a 2004 conviction revoked and was resentenced to one to two years in state prison, to be served consecutively to another sentence he is serving. Roberts was placed on probation in October 2004 for possessing a controlled substance with intent to deliver. Court documents state he violated that probation by being convicted of possessing crack cocaine with intent to deliver in September. He was sentenced to 18 to 42 months in prison for that offense.

Dennis Deal Jr., 26, of North Stonebase Road, Mercer, sentenced to three months to two years in prison for theft from a motor vehicle. Deal took $100 from a motor vehicle parked on North Liberty-Plain Grove Road, Liberty Township, on May 25, 2007, court documents state.

Chauncey Duke, 23, of Alexandria, La., placed on two years’ probation for misdemeanor theft by deception. According to court documents, Duke was an employee of Ecko Unlimited at the Grove City Outlet Mall, Springfield Township. On Feb. 18, 2007, he took cash from the register, then created a false impression that $3,000 worth of clothing had been returned for a refund.

Shawn Hanselman, 22, of Wick Avenue, Hermitage, sentenced to three months to one year in jail for disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. Court documents state he fought with three Hermitage police officers Jan. 12, 2007, while being placed under arrest at his home, causing minor injuries to two of them. He also caused $600 damage to a police car window by striking the rear passenger window with his feet and head. He also threatened police officers.

Shane Milano, no age available, of Nora Street, Clark, placed on two years’ probation and ordered to do 200 hours of community service for simple assault. Court documents state Milano pointed a semiautomatic pistol at a man’s face and threatened to shoot him Jan. 27, 2007, in the parking lot of Plaza Travel, 2429 E. State St., Hermitage.

Tracy Ridgeway, 44, formerly of West State Street, Sharon, and now of the State Correctional Facility, Huntingdon, sentenced to 21 months to four years in prison for escape, and an additional 100 to 300 days for 10 counts of passing bad checks. He was also ordered to make restitution. Court documents state he failed to return to Sharon Community Corrections center Nov. 26, 2006, from a furlough. He also wrote 10 bad checks to Country Fair, 205 N. Erie St., Mercer, totaling $1,406 in November 2006.

Jeffrey Rueberger, 24, of Mitchell Road, West Middlesex, sentenced to nine months to two years in jail for burglary. He was given 200 days credit for time served. Court documents state he stole lottery tickets April 8, 2007, from Standard Market, 100 Council Avenue, Wheatland.

Brandon Bowers, 20, of Old Ash Road, Grove City, placed on five years’ probation for conspiracy to commit criminal trespass and conspiracy to commit theft by unlawful taking. He was ordered to make restitution. Court documents state that Bowers conspired with another man to steal $16,800 in coins from a Hemlock Trail resident in Pine Township in July 2006.

Nancy Depreta, 43, of Patton Avenue, Farrell, sentenced to five to 11 months in jail and ordered to make restitution for access device fraud. She was given credit for 391 days served. Court documents state that Sept. 3, 2006, she used an ATM card which was not hers without authorization to obtain $179 at a Farrell bank.

Shannon Fess, 36, of West 10th Street, Greenville, placed on a one-year’s probation for simple assault and disorderly conduct. According to court documents, Fess attacked a 15-year-old girl June 23, 2006, at a Shenango Park Road address in Pymatuning Township. He knocked her to the ground, then punched and kicked her. The victim was taken to a hospital for treatment. Fess was upset because she believed the girl had hit her son.

Mike Gerasimek, 27, of Harrison Street, Greenville, sentenced to three to 23 months in jail followed by three years’ probation for criminal conspiracy to commit possession with intent to deliver. He was ordered to pay restitution to the Pennsylvania State Police laboratory for drug testing. Court documents state that July 15, 2006, he conspired with another man at a Plum Street residence, Greenville, to deliver cocaine.

Richard Hunyadi, of George Street Extension, Hermitage, sentenced to three months to one year in jail followed by three years’ probation for burglary and criminal conspiracy/burglary and one count of theft by unlawful taking. He also was ordered to make restitution. Court documents state that in February this year, he burglarized Husnick’s Auto Clinic, 1500 E. State St., Sharon, stealing a truck, and a sport-utility vehicle from a Dakota Street residence in Farrell. In October 2006, he also stole a rifle and shotgun valued at $1,621 and took $80 cash from a George Street Extension residence in Hermitage.

Christopher Lacroix, 39, of Danielson, Conn., sentenced to three to 23 months in jail and ordered to make restitution for theft by unlawful taking. Court documents state that on Nov. 8, 2006, he took copper tubing valued at $2,000 from American Tower Co., property on Buckeye Drive, South Pymatuning Township.

Eric Mockabee, 36, of Wakefield Drive, Sharpsville, placed on one-year’s probation for possession of drug paraphernalia. He was apprehended Nov. 25, 2006, at a Colt Road, Pymatuning Township address with seven crack pipes and other drug-related items.

Richard Odem, 42, of King Street, Sharon, sentenced to one to 12 months in jail followed by one year’s probation for simple assault. Court documents state that on Sept. 19, 2006, he punched a man in the face and head several times at a Sherman Avenue address, causing him to lose consciousness. Then Odem took $250 from the victim’s pocket as the man lay on the ground.
