AUSTINTOWN — Matthew Stefanak, commissioner of the Mahoning County District Board of Health, has been appointed to serve a two-year term on the board of scientific counselors at the National Center for Environmental Health and Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry at the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The board provides guidance regarding agency goals, objectives, strategies and priorities.
BOARDMAN — Valerie D’Apolito, an adviser with Edward Jones Financial, received the A.F. McKenzie Achievement Award for outstanding sales and service efforts over the past year. About 1,700 of the firm’s more than 10,000 advisers received the award.
NEW YORK — Molly Sheridan, formerly of Boardman, won a Deems Taylor Award for outstanding print, broadcast and new media coverage on music. Sheridan, managing editor of NewMusicBlog.org, was selected for her article, “Start Small, Think Big,” in Symphony magazine. The awards are presented by the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers.
