Dog-license drive to be held in Mercer County

MERCER, Pa. β€” The Pennsylvania Bureau of Dog Law will be conducting a dog-license drive in Mercer County in the near future.

County Treasurer Virginia Richardson, along with the Pennsylvania Game Commission, also remind hunters that a new state law was passed that makes it lawful to use a dog β€œto pursue, chase, scatter and track wild turkeys during the fall wide turkey season.”

The season began Saturday. This change of law does not appear in the 2007-08 Hunting and Trapping Digest because it was signed into law June 30, after the digest was printed.

Richardson reminds hunters to make sure their dogs have a current license before going into the woods.

Dog licenses can be purchased at the courthouse or from one of the 14 dog license agents across the county. To obtain the name of the agent in your community, call (724) 662-4440.
