WARREN — A city police officer is being recognized for his efforts and dedication to the city.
Lt. Joe Marhulik, 50, was named the Crisis Intervention Team Coordinator of the Year, and city council passed a resolution commending him.
Marhulik is a lifelong Trumbull County resident and has been with the police department for 22 years.
Marhulik said the award is not his alone. He shares it with the police department as a whole. The Crisis Intervention Unit teaches police officers how to respond to people with mental health problems.
He is the fifth police officer in Ohio to receive this honor.
