Scouting report: Walsh lost its fourth straight game to a NAIA ranked opponent, 42-14, to No. 5-ranked Saint Francis last Saturday. It marked the first time in Cavaliers’ history lost four games and opened league play 0-4. Walsh has lost its last six MSFA Mideast games dating back to last season. Ohio Dominican is averaging 48.6 points per game and has scored 62 and 64 points in their last two outings. The Panthers beat Taylor, 62-14, last Saturday, rolling up 683 yards of total offense.

Malone (7-1, 4-0 MSFA Mideast)

Scouting report: Malone, ranked No. 12 in the NAIA, is coming off a 21-7 win over Urbana and has won six straight. St. Xavier beat Marian (Ind.) last week, 33-3. RB Bernard Payton posted his fourth consecutive 100-yard rushing performance for Malone with 119 yards on 30 carries. He also led the squad with nine catches for 40 yards and scored three touchdowns (two rushing, one receiving). Payton has 19 TDs on the season to tie the school record. He also broke the school record for points scored in one season with 116.

Thomas More (4-3, 2-2 PAC)
vs. Bethany (3-4, 1-3 PAC)

Scouting report: Thomas More lost to Geneva, 10-9, while Bethany beat Westminster, 41-21. Bethany snapped a four-game losing streak and a five-game skid against Westminster. The Bison used 20 unanswered points to break away from a 21-21 tie entering the final quarter. RB Marcus Santini ran for two TDs while QB Milton Joyner tallied the other TD. Joyner completed 26 passes — third-most in school history — for 321 yards and two TDs, and was named PAC Offensive Player of the Week. Santini rushed for 122 yards and his two scores of 53 and 30 yards. WR Matt Cruse caught 12 passes to tie for second-most in school history for 133 yards, while Taylor McNeil had eight catches for 140 yards and one TD. Thomas More’s Matt Clark, a freshman LB, came up with a game-high 17 tackles, including six solo stops, and one pass breakup and was named PAC Defensive Player of the Week.

Scouting report: St. Vincent was blanked by Case Western Reserve, 42-0, last Saturday while Geneva thumped Westminster, 41-21. Geneva’s defense is ranked No. 1 in the PAC. The Golden Tornadoes held off Thomas More, 10-9, last Saturday to give coach Geno DeMarco his 100th win. Geneva’s defense limited the Saints to 127 total yards, including 21 rushing. The Golden Tornadoes got their winning score when Bobby Bondi hit Luke Duriancik with a 5-yard TD pass late in the third quarter. Brian Wilson had a pair of sacks in the final 2:00 to seal the win. He leads the PAC in tackles for losses and sacks.

Frostburg State (2-5)
vs. Westminster (3-4)

Scouting report: Westminster lost its third straight last Saturday, 41-21, to Bethany. The Titans were victims of the Bison’s 20-point rally in the last quarter. Westminster was led by QB Kevin Franz, who completed 20 of 32 passes for 270 yards, including two TD passes to Chad Rosatelli covering 20 and 28 yards. Franz also scored a TD on a 1-yard plunge. Senior Brett Ziegler caught seven passes for 105 yards. Sophomore TB Nick McKolosky rushed for 126 yards in 26 carries. Frostburg State broke a four-game losing skid last Saturday with a 28-7 win over Union (Ky.).

Mount Union (7-0, 6-0 OAC)
vs. Capital (6-1, 5-1 OAC)

Scouting report: No. 1-ranked Mount Union earned a 35-0 homecoming win over Baldwin-Wallace last Saturday before a sellout crowd of 6,322 fans at Mount Union Stadium. No. 5-ranked Capital was upended by Otterbein last Saturday, 17-10, in Westerville. RB Nate Kmic led Mount Union with 116 yards rushing in 26 carries for 116 yards, although he did not score a TD for the first time this season. WR Pierre Garcon finished with a season-high seven catches for 58 yards and a score, and added 32 yards rushing in four carries and one TD. DE Nick Parr led the MUC defense with six tackles, two for losses, and a sack. CB Jonah Wilson had his second interception of the season.

Allegheny (5-2, 3-1 NCAC)
vs. Ohio Wesleyan (2-5, 2-3 NCAC)

Scouting report: Allegheny beat Wooster last Saturday, 27-20, while Ohio Wesleyan lost to Wittenberg, 21-16. Allegheny was led by QB T.J. Salopek who completed 18 of 24 passes for 262 yards and two TDs. He tied his career highs in completions and TDs and surpassed his previous best in yards. WR JIm Lieb had five catches for 80 yards to climb into a second-place tie for career receptions at the school. The defense was led by Ross Simcoe with a career-high 16 tackles, while senior Andy Toner picked off a pass in the end zone as time expired to hold off Wooster.

Earlham (2-5, 1-3 NCAC)

Scouting report: Earlham beat Kenyon, 42-25, while Hiram lost to Denison, 42-13. Senior Terrel Brown scored Earlham’s winning points on a quarterback sneak with 33 seconds left to cap a 17-play, 95-yard drive. Senior Joe White caught seven passes for 139 yards and three TDs, one coming on third down during the winning drive. In Hiram’s loss, senior LB Tom Canitia made 11 tackles and forced a fumble. Freshman R Kyle Milano caught three passes for 81 yards and scored a TD.

California(8-0, 4-0 PSAC West)
vs. Slippery Rock (7-1, 2-1 PSAC West)

Scouting report: California defeated Edinboro, 28-6, last Saturday to remain undefeated, while Slippery Rock topped Shippensburg, 38-34. California holds first place in the PSAC West while The Rock is in third place. Senior LB Gary Butler led the California defense last week with six total tackles, including five solo stops, as the Vulcans limited Edinboro to 47 yards rushing. Butler also registered an 11-yard sack to force a fumble that rolled out of the end zone for a safety for the first score of the game. In Slippery Rock’s win, senior WR Paul Favers scored two TDs in the final 90 seconds to lead the victory. With SRU trailing, 27-24, Favers returned the kickoff 68 yards to give The Rock the lead with 1:18 remaining. Then less than a minute later, with SRU again trailing, 34-31, Favers climaxed a 74-yard drive with a 17-yard touchdown reception from Nate Crookshank with two seconds remaining for the comeback win. Favers was named PSAC-Western Division “Offensive Player of the Week.”
