Westminster prof’s play
selected for festival

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. — A play written by Andrew Ade, assistant professor of English at Westminster College, has been selected for presentation at the annual Theatre Festival in Black and White, sponsored by the Pittsburgh Playwrights Theater Company (PPTC).

The play, entitled “A Question of Taste,” is a political fable about modern Africa. “Two African men of different generations and political philosophies meet while both are in police detention,” said Ade. “They clash over important issues that motivate their resistance fighting against their president and, despite the discovery of surprising similarities between them, end their personal encounter in violence.”

The festival will present eight new short plays by playwrights with ties to the Pittsburgh area in the PPTC space on Penn Avenue in Pittsburgh. Five of the plays will be staged in Westminster’s Beeghly Theater on Nov. 3. It is free and open to the public. The festival and Westminster evening will also include “Cake Without Frosting,” by F.J. Hartland, a 1980 Westminster graduate.
