Highlights of a proposed state law that would require employers to offer sick days:
Affected: All employers with at least 25 workers.
Days off: Employees who work at least 30 hours a week would receive seven paid days off per year. Other workers would receive fewer days.
Taking off: Sick days could be used for illness or injury or seeking doctor’s care. They also could be used to care for spouses, children and parents.
Doctor’s note: Employers could require proof of doctor’s care if an absence covers more than three consecutive work days.
