Oct. 18

Forgery: While responding to a report of someone trying to cash a counterfeit check at Checksmart, 112 Boardman-Poland Road, police arrested a man, 29, and a woman, 21, both of Youngstown, on charges of forgery and criminal simulation. The man also was charged with obstructing justice and was wanted on a felony warrant from the Michigan Department of Corrections charging him with parole violation.

Bad check: A 35-year-old Youngstown woman surrendered to police after being wanted on a felony charge from the township.

Theft: Authorities charged a 21-year-old North Lima woman and a Youngstown woman, 26, after 13 pieces of merchandise valued at a total of $52.67 were stolen from Wal-Mart, 1300 Doral Drive.

Drugs: Officers responded to a possible drug offense in the 5000 block of Grover Drive and pulled over a 31-year-old Youngstown man nearby for speeding before charging him with drug abuse (marijuana), possession of drug paraphernalia and operating a vehicle impaired.

Theft: A man left Perkins Family Restaurant, 804 Boardman-Poland Road, without paying his $16 food bill.

Breaking and entering: A man discovered someone kicked in the garage door before entering a vacant West Western Reserve Road home. Nothing seemed to be missing, however.

Burglary: Someone broke into a residence in the 200 block of Meadowbrook Avenue via a rear door and stole copper plumbing.

Burglary: A woman found that someone entered her Beechwood Drive home through the front door.

Identity theft: A Cascade Drive woman found three fraudulent purchases totaling $458 were made through her bank account.

Theft: A woman reported the theft of $150 while in the 7000 block of Glenwood Avenue.

Theft: A motorist failed to pay for $43.30 worth of gasoline before leaving a Shell True North station, 7598 Market St.

Theft: Police arrested a 17-year-old Youngstown girl on a theft charge after $67 worth of clothing was taken from Wal-Mart.

Theft: A Struthers woman, 19, was charged after being accused of stealing 27 items from Wal-Mart. The theft came to $108.

Oct. 19

Stolen property: A 33-year-old man was picked up at his Brookfield Avenue home on a felony count of receiving stolen property. Earlier, a Boardman woman reported $600 and jewelry missing after a burglary at her residence.

Arrest: A traffic stop near Hitchcock Road resulted in the arrest of a Boardman man, 25, when police learned he was wanted on felony charges of escape and being a fugitive from justice. He faced a separate charge of driving under suspension.

Fraud: A 37-year-old Mineral Ridge man surrendered to authorities and faced three counts each of forgery and misuse of a credit card after an Erskine Avenue man found out his personal information had been used to open a fraudulent credit-card account.

Misuse of a credit card: A Huntington Drive man checked his account online and discovered six transactions with his credit/debit card totaling about $800 that he had not made.

Theft: A Boardman man told police of having $40 stolen through deceptive means.

Theft: A Boardman man returned to his Jeep at the Southern Park Mall and realized his wallet was missing.

Theft: Two women and a man in their 30s were accused of taking $1,000 worth of clothing from Hollister in the Southern Park Mall.

Theft/criminal damaging: A Youngstown man, 38, was arrested at the Mahoning County Jail on two counts of criminal damaging and one count of theft. A Boardman woman reported her car window had been broken and her purse stolen from the vehicle.

Assault: A Boardman man told officers he was assaulted while at a residence in the 6000 block of Applecrest Court.

Attempted theft: Four people in the 4000 block of South Avenue told police a man tried to steal two bicycles.

Theft: A Boardman woman, 54, was charged. She was accused of stealing a $60 women’s jacket from the J.C. Penney store in the Southern Park Mall.

Theft: A 32-year-old Campbell woman was accused of taking three articles of clothing worth a total of $38 from Wal-Mart, where she was arrested and charged.

Theft: Police, with assistance from the U.S. Marshals Task Force, arrested a 30-year-old woman at her Risher Road home on a felony charge of forgery. An employee of Federal Cash Express, 4845 Market St., reported getting two forged and stolen checks totaling $765.

Oct. 20

Arrest: A 52-year-old Wellsville man was taken into custody at a South Avenue motel and charged with disorderly conduct.

Theft: After being accused of removing seven items from Giant Eagle, 1201 Doral Drive, a 21-year-old New Waterford woman faced one count of theft.

Bad check: Police arrested on Market Street a 38-year-old Baltimore man upon learning he was wanted on a felony warrant from Niles. The original charge was passing bad checks.

Arrest: While responding to a fight among four people at a Boardman-Poland Road business, officers arrested a 24-year-old North Lima woman on one count of obstructing official business.

Theft/drugs: A Youngstown man, 35, was taken into custody on Youngstown-Poland Road and faced charges of theft, receiving stolen property and possession of drug paraphernalia. Earlier, a woman reported her purse stolen while at a Boardman-Poland Road business.

Bad check: A 24-year-old Youngstown man was booked at the Mahoning County Jail on a charge of passing bad checks after a worker for Cochran Sparkle Market, 4121 South Ave., accepted what turned out to be a bad check.

Bad check: A Youngstown woman, 51, was charged after a bad check was passed at Custom Awards & Gifts, 5944 Market St.

Criminal damaging: A man in the 300 block of Mathews Road found a broken glass window.

Theft: A Salem girl, 14, was charged after $166 worth of clothing was stolen from Kohl’s, 383 Boardman-Poland Road.

Theft: A woman reported the theft of $400 and medications from her Salinas Trail apartment.

Theft: An employee with a Southern Boulevard business noticed 26 fraudulent charges totaling $1,170 were made from a checking account.

Theft: A $150 pair of boots was stolen from Rick’s Ranchwear, 7336 Market St.

Assault: A Boardman man suffered bruises and other injuries after being assaulted at a U.S. Route 224 eatery.

Oct. 21

Recovered property: Police found in the 7400 block of Market Street a 1990 Oldsmobile that had been stolen from a Leavittsburg boy and that matched the description of a vehicle used in a recent robbery.

Theft: A woman left a Shell station, 7598 Market St., without paying for $35 worth of gasoline.

Criminal mischief: An Aravesta Avenue woman reported three nearby vehicles sustained scratches.

Drug paraphernalia: After pulling a vehicle over near West Boulevard, police said they found a needle, a suspected crack pipe, a spoon and a pill container. Charged with possession of drug paraphernalia were a Boardman woman, 22, and a Youngstown man, 37, who also faced one count of possession of drug-abuse instruments.

Theft: A $100 bicycle was removed from a residence in the 80 block of Leighton Avenue.

Criminal damaging: An Argyle Avenue man reported his windshield was broken, resulting in a $400 damage estimate.

Criminal damaging: A yard statue was broken at a home in the 4500 block of New England Boulevard.

Burglary: Someone broke into a vacant residence in the 300 block of Indianola Road through a front window before taking copper piping from the basement. The owner found the front door open.
