Walgreen’s robbery suspect arrested after standoff

AUSTINTOWN — A West Side man out on bond in a gun case is now charged with holding up the Walgreen’s in Cornersburg.

Christopher R. Bosi, 32, of 1585 Cascade Drive, Youngstown, was taken into custody at his home around 9 p.m. Sunday after a standoff with police. The Walgreen’s at 3800 Tippecanoe Road was robbed at 3:50 p.m. Sunday.

The clerk told police that the robber lifted his sweatshirt and exposed a handgun tucked into his pants as he asked for all the $20s and $10s. The partial license plate number a witness gave police lead them to Bosi’s home. Police used several combinations of the number until they hit on a vehicle that matched what Bosi was driving.

Bosi was taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center on Sunday after telling police he had injected heroin and cocaine.

Austintown Detective Kathy Dina said if he were released from the hospital in time he would be arraigned today at 1 p.m. in Mahoning County Area Court. If not, he will be arraigned Wednesday morning on a charge of aggravated robbery.

Lt. Robin Lees, commander of the Mahoning Valley Law Enforcement Task Force, said the unit’s Crisis Response Team set up a perimeter at Bosi’s house and he eventually surrendered. The task force was aided by officers from Youngstown, Boardman and Austintown and Mahoning County deputy sheriffs.

Mahoning County court records show a charge of having a weapon under disability was filed in Boardman on July 31 and Bosi was released on own recognizance. The case was bound over to a Mahoning County grand jury on Oct. 9.
