South Florida hires ex-Ohio State president

COLUMBUS (AP) — Officials at the University of South Florida say former Ohio State University President Karen Holbrook has accepted a job as the school’s interim vice president of research and innovation.

Holbrook will start Dec. 3. The school made the announcement Thursday, and her salary is being negotiated.

Holbrook retired from Ohio State on June 30 after five years as president. She now lives on Longboat Key, near Sarasota, Fla.

In August, Holbrook was in the final round of interviews to lead Florida Gulf Coast University but dropped out of the running.

South Florida has more than 45,000 students on campuses in Tampa, St. Petersburg, Sarasota-Manatee and Lakeland.
