Contis observe golden wedding anniversary


BOARDMAN — Observing their 50th wedding anniversary Oct. 19 were Larry and Marguerite Conti, 173 Runnemede Drive.

Mr. Conti and the former Marguerite Micco were married on that date in 1957 at St. Vitus Church in New Castle, Pa.

The occasion will be celebrated at a later date.

The couple’s family consists of their two children and their spouses, Jacqueline and Jim Hutch of Austintown and Larry III and Anna Conti of Boardman; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Mrs. Conti, who is semiretired, has worked as a legal secretary for various private and corporate firms, including Standard Slag Co. and Van Huffel Tube Corp., both in Youngstown, and STV Engineers Inc. in Pottstown, Pa. She is a member of the board of directors of the American Heart Association.

Mr. Conti retired in 1994 after a 40-year career in radio and television broadcasting. He was a general manager in major market radio in Pittsburgh; Trenton and Elizabeth, N.J.; New Orleans; and Cleveland. At the time of his retirement, he was general manager and station vice president of WHAM and WHFM Radio in Rochester, N.Y. He was inducted into the Akron-based Broadcasters Hall of Fame in 2004. Mr. Conti is a member of the Downtown Lions, Elks, Eagles and Rotary International organizations and the American Cancer Society.

The couple are also members of St. Charles Church in Boardman.
