Poland netters clipped at state

COLUMBUS — Poland High School seniors, singles player Alyssa Tom and doubles players Megan Bennett-Jessica Mullis were eliminated in the girls Division II state tennis tournament Friday at the Stickney Tennis Center on the campus of Ohio State University.

Tom lost a first-round match to Ashley Staub of Columbus School for Girls 7-5, 6-0 and Bennett-Mullis were beaten by Jenny Graul-Alex Niekamp of Kettering Archbishop Alter 7-5, 6-2 in a first round match.

Gabby Steele of Cincinnati Summit Country Day will meet Katherine Bulling of Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy and Sebrina Jetil of Orange will face Kelsey Haviland of Dayton Oakwood in semifinal singles matches today.

Morgan Dorsey-Cameron Dorsey of Hathaway Brown go against Caitlin O’Gara-Maggie Sullivan of Bishop Fenwick and Holly Tu-Val Micek of Gahanna Columbus Academy take on Torrie Goudy-Courtney Schaub of Lexington in semifinal doubles matches.

Singles and championship matches will follow.
