More graduates from Youngstown schools

YOUNGSTOWN — A group of city high school seniors unable to graduate with classmates last spring because of some academic issues now have their diplomas.

The school district held a graduation ceremony for 24 students earlier this month, making them members of the Class of 2007.

Some had failed to pass all five segments of the Ohio Graduation Test and others needed to successfully complete specific course work to earn their diplomas.

Youngstown had a total of 64 seniors fail to pass the OGT in the spring, requiring them to successfully complete a summer intervention program and retake the sections of the test that caused them problems if they wanted to secure a diploma.

The graduates, and their high schools, are:

Rayen: Lerelle Beck, Tiara Berger, RaShawn Cook, Edward Hill, AlondaJames, Dessera McClendon and Stephen Slade.

Wilson: Andre Erkard, Britany Gibson, William Johnson, Shatayla Moore, Cortland Perry, Lillian Rosado, Maurice Sims and Keith Tubbs.

Chaney: Micah Ballard, Deandre Brooks, Wayne Claycomb, Nate Dendy, Nikita Jones, Drew Menendez, Alexander Morales, Randy Reese and John Turner.
