Canfield rolls behind Carrocce

STRUTHERS — Mark Carrocce threw three touchdown passes and wound up with 142 yards in the air on 8-for-11, as Canfield opened a 21-0 lead after the first quarter and went on to a 42-0 win over Struthers in a Metro Athletic Conference game Friday night.

Carrocce’s scoring passes were Jim Hudson (20 yards), Colin Hoezel (52 yards) and Dan Banna (1 yard).

Pat Fanning added two touchdowns on runs of 3 and 6 yards for Canfield (8-1, 5-1 MAC), while Christan Smith Rambled 49 yards to the final score.

Ryan Sankovich was 6-for-6 in the extra-point category.

Hoezel caught two passes for 72 yards.

Smith led Canfield’s rushing attack with 69 yards in seven carries, while Banna added 57 yards in six runs.

Sam Valliquette led Struthers (3-6, 2-4) with 80 yards rushing in 20 carries.

POLAND — Tyler Vallinger scored touchdown on runs of 10 and 8 yards helping the Bulldogs (7-2, 5-1) build a 21-0 lead by halftime.

Brett Modic returned an intercepted pass 70 yards for a TD and Gannon Hulea scored on a 2-yard run for Poland in the Metro Athletic Conference game.

Willie Daniels tallied for the Red Devils in the fourth quarter on a 4-yard run.

The Bulldogs gained 312 yards of offense and Campbell 210.

Salem 20

SALEM — Nate Ganyard rushed for 300 yards on 23 carries, which included Touchdown runs of 16, 1, 7 and 5 yards for the Red Dragons (7-2, 4-1 MAC). Zakary Stanton gained 149 yards on 13 carries and he scored on a 15-yard run.

Seth Harding kicked field goals of 25, 24 and 41 yards to pace the Quakers (1-8, 1-5).

The Red Dragons had 521 yards of offensive, while the Quakers had 339, with Zac O’Brien connecting on 16 of 27 passes for 222.
