The program is offering two scholarships worth $10,000 each.

CLEVELAND — The Cleveland Browns Foundation is providing an opportunity for students whose long-term career goal includes working for a professional sports organization.

The Cleveland Browns Marion Motley Scholarship, managed by Cleveland Scholarship Programs, Inc., is seeking two students from the class of 2008 to receive four-year renewable college scholarships in the amount of $2,500 per year.

“With this opportunity, we look forward to helping students reach their career goals through continued education and are proud to do so through the legacy of one of our greatest players, Marion Motley,” said Renee Harvey, director of community relations for the Cleveland Browns Foundation.

To be eligible, students must meet specific income guidelines and attend a high school in Northeast Ohio, be targeted to graduate in 2008 and planning to enroll in college in the 2008-09 academic year. Students must also have a minimum 2.5 cumulative grade point average and have scored at least a 17 on the ACT or an 820 on the combined math and verbal components of the SAT.

Students should plan on majoring in business, accounting, finance, human resources, information technology, communications, journalism or public relations.

Applications must be submitted by Friday.

“The Marion Motley Scholarship Program emphasizes the importance of academic excellence and motivation in achieving long-term career goals, while providing real opportunities for socio-economically disadvantaged students,” said Tina Milano, CEO of CSP. “It is an investment in the economic and social health of our community.”
