Foundations give $500K to YSU Centennial Capital Campaign

YOUNGSTOWN — Youngstown State University’s Centennial Capital Campaign got a major boost today with a $500,000 gift from the John and Loretta Hynes and John D. Finnegan foundations.

The pledge brings the campaign total to $34.2 million thus far. The goal is $43 million. The five-year campaign is the largest in YSU history.

Today’s gift is earmarked for construction of a new $34 million building for the Williamson College of Business Administration.

The Hynes and Finnegan foundations were founded in 1957 by the original owners of Hynes Industries in Youngstown.

This is the fourth major gift to the university by the foundations in the last 11 years. Other gifts totaled $360,000.
