Schedule of events
The Regional Chamber is having the summit from 8 to 11:30 a.m. Friday at the Holiday Inn MetroPlex in Liberty. Here’s the schedule:
8 a.m., Check in/continental breakfast.
8:15 a.m., Introduction by Tony Paglia, the chamber’s vice president for government affairs, and Walter J. “Buzz” Pishkur, Aqua Ohio president. The company is sponsoring the free event.
8:20 a.m., David Y. Miller, an associate dean at the University of Pittsburgh’s Graduate School of Public and International Affairs, will discuss approaches to practicing regionalism in metropolitan areas.
8:45 a.m., Question and answer period.
9 a.m., Glenn Evans, a Delaware County commissioner, will discuss the recent combination of the 911 centers in the city of Delaware and that county.
9:20 a.m., Questions and answers.
9:30 a.m., A panel discussion about the possibilities and obstacles of combining 911 dispatch centers in Mahoning and Trumbull counties. The panelists include: Trumbull 911 Director Mike Dolhancryk, Niles Police Chief Bruce Simeone, Mahoning Emergency Management Agency Director Walter Duzzny, and Capt. Joseph Fergus, Youngstown 911 Center commander.
10 a.m., Chris Thompson will discuss revenue sharing among local governments to spur economic development and the cost of government fragmentation in Northeast Ohio. Thompson is the director of marketing, communications and civic outreach for Fund for Our Economic Future in Cleveland.
10:20 a.m., Questions and answers.
10:30 a.m., Kimberly Gibson will talk about the state’s providing incentives for shared services and regional collaboration efforts. She is the Ohio Department of Development’s special assistant for energy, transportation and regional collaboration.
11 a.m., Questions and answers.
