PTA raises $14,000 for gym floor covers

The Austintown Middle School PTA raised $14,000 to buy floor covers for the two gyms at the school.

They did it, said PTA representatives Kelly Phillips and Mariann Minardi, so that the school could host more events without worrying about ruining the wooden floors.

Phillips and Minardi presented a plaque to the school board Wednesday that lists community donors for the covers.

Phillips told the board that Minardi and member Ann Pauline raised the money in nine days just by asking for donations.

The plaque will hang outside the big gym, they said.
