A summary of recent criminal activity in Girard and Liberty:
GIRARD
Oct. 14
Assault: A Girard man alleged a worker for a North State Street restaurant grabbed the accuser’s shoulders and pushed him out the door.
Criminal damaging: A parishioner of Trinity Lutheran Church, 78 E. Liberty St., reported someone broke a lantern and a light on a sign.
Theft: Officers arrested a Girard man, 41, and a 54-year-old Willowick, Ohio, man on charges of theft, possession of criminal tools and criminal trespassing after getting a report of two vehicles near a fenced-in area at a business in the 1300 block of South State Street. Several coils of copper from transformers were in the vehicle, as were bolt cutters, a crow bar and other tools to cut the fence and gain access, police said.
Oct. 15
Theft: A $2,000 golf cart was missing from Mahoning Country Club Inc., 710 E. Liberty St.
Possible theft: An employee at Trinity Industries, 1170 N. State St., reported the possible theft of metal products from a company plant.
Assault: A Verona Street woman alleged her boyfriend tried to force his way into her residence and, in so doing, pushed against her, causing the woman’s foot to strike a wall.
Theft: A McDonald man said two people removed rims from his bicycle while he was on South Market Street.
LIBERTY
Oct. 12
Theft: Police arrested a 25-year-old Girard woman on charges of theft, obstructing official business and having an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle. She was accused of stealing and drinking two bottles of beer at Save-a-Lot Nemenz Food Store, 3551 Belmont Ave., and of giving authorities three dates of birth.
Auto theft: A James Lane man reported his 1988 Mercury Cougar stolen from his home.
Domestic violence: A North Gate Road man, 48, was taken into custody at his residence on one felony count after his former companion alleged the man punched her repeatedly in the face, kicked her and tore her shirt during an argument. The suspect has six prior domestic-violence convictions, the report showed.
Drugs: After pulling her over on state Route 193, officers arrested a 26-year-old Youngstown woman on charges of possession of drug-abuse instruments and drug paraphernalia after saying they found a hypodermic needle and a suspected crack pipe filter in her purse.
Robbery: A Gypsy Lane man reported coming home to find in his residence another man who struck the homeowner in the face. Police said they found no signs of forced entry, and nothing appeared to be missing.
Theft: A Girard man who lost his wallet in the 3500 block of Belmont Avenue reported finding it with $200 and credit cards missing.
Oct. 13
Criminal damaging: A township employee discovered damage to a pavilion and picnic table at Church Hill Park, 1315 Church Hill-Hubbard Road.
Drugs: A traffic stop near Belmont Avenue led to the arrest of an 18-year-old Hubbard man, who faced charges of possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, as well as various traffic offenses. A suspected marijuana pipe and a pill bottle with suspected marijuana were under the seat, police said.
Arrest: After receiving a report of someone trying to pass a forged prescription at Rite Aid Pharmacy, 2704 Belmont Ave., authorities arrested a 21-year-old Youngstown woman on one count of illegal processing of drug documents, a felony. She attempted to pick up a medication under false pretenses, the worker said.
Oct. 14
Auto theft: A New Haven, Conn., woman reported the theft of her 2000 Ford E-450 while staying at an East Liberty Street motel.
Assault: A Youngstown woman staying with a Trumbull Court man alleged he punched her in the mouth and tried to attack her with a knife during an argument. Police said they found the accuser with blood on her shirt and a swollen lip.
Oct. 15
Theft: Officers picked up an 18-year-old Youngstown man at the Mahoning County Jail who was wanted in the township on two felony counts of theft.
Theft: A bicycle was taken from a residence in the 5200 block of Logan Arms Drive.
Theft: A worker for a Belmont Avenue motel told police a former employee obtained at least six credit cards, using information from the business’s account.
