Auditions for 2 plays

Auditions for 2 plays

Auditions will be this weekend for upcoming plays at the Oakland Center for the Arts in Youngstown and Salem.

The Oakland, 220 W. Boardman St., downtown, needs one adult female, age 35 and up, for “Season’s Greetings,” a one-woman monologue presented in the style of a family holiday newsletter gone awry. Also, one adult male is needed for “Santaland Diaries,” based on the experiences of a former department store elf. Auditions for both plays — which were written by David Sedaris — will be from 7-9 p.m. Sunday and 5-7 p.m. Monday. Performances will be Nov. 29 and Dec. 7, 8, 9, 15 and 16. Call (330) 718-5515 for more information.

Salem Community Theatre, 490 E. State St., Salem, needs to fill a large cast of men, woman and children of all ages for “A Christmas Carol.” Auditionees will be asked to read from the script and sing a brief musical selection. Please bring sheet music; accompaniment will be provided. Auditions will begin at 7 p.m. Sunday and Monday. Performances will open Dec. 9 for a two weekend-stand. Call (330) 332-9688 for more information.
