Propane gas caused Smith Township explosion

BELOIT — Propane gas caused the explosion that leveled a double-wide mobile home on West Pine Lake Road at 4:35 a.m. Tuesday and sent four members of the Woods’ Family to the Cleveland MetroHealth Center burn unit.

Although propane is listed as the cause, it is not known yet specifically where in the home the explosion occurred or why, according to Shane Cartmill, Ohio State Fire Marshal spokesman in Columbus.

He said local and state investigators are at the scene again today.
