Boardman cops arrest man in attempted burglary

BOARDMAN — Like other communities, the township has experienced burglaries of vacant homes where copper plumbing was among the items taken.

Police believe an early Wednesday arrest may help to curtail the problem.

Shortly after 3 a.m., a neighbor in the 4500 block of Euclid Boulevard heard what sounded like a car door closing followed by metal hitting concrete and called police.

Officers arrived and arrested Richard A. Carter, 34, whose last known address is on East Philadelphia Avenue, Youngstown. Carter was charged with attempted burglary, possession of criminal tools and criminal trespass.

Carter remains in the Mahoning County Jail on a $11,000 bond.

Police said that this type of community involvement helps police in the detection of criminal activity and the apprehension of criminals.
