S. Range tops Bristol in OT


Ursuline and Lordstown also earned Division III
sectional victories.

NORTH LIMA — Andrew Edwards scored the winning goal for South Range (6-8-2) with four minutes remaining in the second overtime, lifting the Raiders over Bristol 2-1 of the Division III boys soccer sectional tournament game Monday night.

Jeremy Toney scored a goal to put Bristol ahead 1-0 in the first half, but Alex Baker scored on a penalty kick for the Raiders on the second half to tie it 1-1. South Range’s Luke Yeagley had 17 saves.

Ursuline 5, Columbiana 1

BOARDMAN — Alex DeMario scored two goals for the Irish (7-6-4), while Kevin Patrick and John Colla also scored for the Irish, who benefited from a Columbiana own goal.

Adam Dickson, Colla and Patrick had an assist apiece. Colla had three saves and Andrew Rich had four.

Josh Harold scored the goal for the Clippers (3-14), who were out-shot 22-9. Kevin Hill had 15 saves for Columbiana.

Ursuline will travel to meet Crestview Thursday at 4 p.m.

Lordstown 6, United 2

LORDSTOWN — Nate Rech scored his 60th career goal, while Jordan DiEugenio, Ryan Pal, Keith Simpson, Andre Bortnik and Zach Hall also scored for Lordstown (10-6-1), which advanced to play at second-seeded Rootstown at 7 p.m. Thursday.

Tykie Theofilos and Jimmy Theofilos each had two assists, while DiEugenio had one for the Red Devils, who led 4-1 at halftime. Joe Fitzgibbon had two saves and Rech had two.

Joe Karmazin had two goals, while Zach Barkley had an assist for the Golden Eagles (6-7-3). Spencer Widlicka had 14 saves.

Division II

RAVENNA — Matt Britton had three goals and Tom Stark two for Liberty in a 5-2 win over Southeast.

Pat McGarry had three assists and Eric Kocher one assist for the Leopards (7-8-2), who play at Cardinal Mooney Thursday at 7 p.m.

Mason Harsh assisted on one of Nick Phillips’ two goals for Southeast, whose goalie, Tyler Young, had nine saves.

West Branch 2, Champion 0

BELOIT — West Branch’s next opponent is at Howland in a sectional final Thursday at 7 p.m.

Monday, Brian Snoddy and Zach West had the goals and John Schuster had an assist for the Warriors, who out-shot the Golden Flashes, 12-3.

Champion goalie Brent Barbe had eight saves, while West Branch goalie Chance Young had three stops.

Liberty keeper Josh Hideg had five stops.

Girls

NEW MIDDLETOWN — Senior Carrie Ritzler tied a season-high with four goals to lead Springfield over Jefferson Area, 4-0, in a Div. II sectional opener.

Heather Cozak had four saves for the Tigers (11-5-1), who will play at Warren JFK at 4 p.m. Wednesday.

Melissa Huffman, who had one assist, combined with defenders Ashley Huffman, Emily Proya and Arielle Mincher to help on the shutout. Katie Bretz also had an assist.

Emily Fuller had four saves for Jefferson (4-11-1), which trailed 2-0 at halftime.

Youngstown Christian 7, Bristol 4

AUSTINTOWN — Kara Cooper scored five goals for the Eagles (9-4-2) in the Div. II game at Highway Tabernacle Field.

Kristi Cooper scored two goals and she had two assists. Kara Cooper had an assist.

Amanda Rasmussen scored three goals for Bristol (4-8-4) and Katie Pajestka scored the other goal.

The Eagles had 24 shots on goal and Bristol 11.

Devanie Womack had eight saves for the Eagles. Heidi Ulrich had seven saves for Bristol.

Youngstown Christian will travel to meet Conneaut Wednesday at 7 p.m.
