Rehab center receives $10,000 grant

HOWLAND — Children’s Rehabilitation Center has received a $10,000 grant to benefit its “The Children with Courage Fund,” which provides rehabilitation therapy to disabled or medically fragile children, regardless of financial status.

The grant was provided by the Kennedy Family Foundation. It was awarded through the Mahoning Valley Community Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to developing, managing and distributing charitable funding in the community.

Children’s Rehabilitation Center has been providing therapeutic, education and support services to ill and handicapped children since 1957. It will celebrate its 50th anniversary Oct. 25.

In recognition, the center, 885 Howland Wilson Road, will have an open house from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. that day, followed by a 6 p.m. celebration at nearby Howland United Methodist Church.

The featured speaker will be Dr. Paul A. Wright, cardiologist and author of “Mother Teresa’s Prescription.” The event also will include food and refreshments.

A $5 donation to the center’s “Children with Courage Fund” is requested per family. For more information or to make a reservation call (330) 856-2107 Ext. 0.
