Hundreds keep the pace in Peace Race

At right, Michael Lowry, 49, of Youngstown shows his spirit by wearing a peace emblem on his shirt. He finished the Youngstown Peace Race in 691st place with a time of 1:05:27. Lyndsi Benedict, 26, of Columbus was the top women’s finisher in the Peace Race’s 10K, covering the 6.2-mile distance in 33:07, ahead of 270 other females. Matt Folk, who works at Second Sole in Boardman, was the overall champion. Boardman’s Rick Lape won the 2-mile run/walk in 9:39 on what was a route inadvertently shortened.
