YOUNGSTOWN — A free lunch for the needy will be served from noon to 1 p.m. today at Temple Emmanuel Seventh-day Adventist Church, 108 W. Indianola Ave.

Robbed on way to work

BOARDMAN — A township man told police he was robbed when he stopped at a stop sign while on his way to work. The victim, 24, said he was in his car on his way to work about 5:40 a.m. Monday and stopped at the stop sign on Forest Hill Drive at Brookwood Avenue. A man approached, stuck a gun through the open driver’s side window, pointed it at his head and demanded money. The man gave the robber $30 from his pocket, and the robber fled north on Brookwood.

Three teens charged

BOARDMAN — A traffic stop on South Avenue resulted in the arrest of three juvenile boys on drug and other charges. Police found marijuana and blackjack-type club in the car. The driver, 17, of Main Street, New Middletown, is charged with carrying a concealed weapon and cited for driving under suspension and having fictitious plates. He also received minor misdemeanor citations for marijuana possession and possession of cigarettes by a minor. The two passengers, one, 15, of Kerrywood Drive, New Middletown, and the other, 17, Youngstown-Pittsburgh Road, Petersburg, each are charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and issued minor misdemeanor citations for marijuana possession and possession of cigarettes by a minor. All were released to their parents.

Fires set in apartment

YOUNGSTOWN — Multiple fires were set inside a vacant upstairs apartment at 930 Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard around 4:45 p.m. Sunday, the fire department said. Bystanders told firefighters that the apartment had recently been raided by police for drug activity. Damage was set at $3,000.

Sewer line meeting

MINERAL RIDGE — Residents in the Heaton-Chute neighborhood of Weathersfield Township are invited to a meeting at 7 p.m. Oct. 23 at the township building to discuss tying into a county sewer line. The 80 residents and six business in the area paid a total $100,000 assessment on their taxes for the DeForest Road sewer, but were never tied into the line. Resident Lydia Infante organized of the meeting. It was originally announced the meeting would be today.

Pizza shop robber sought

NEW CASTLE, Pa. — City police are looking for a man who robbed Little Johnny’s pizza shop on Highland Avenue at gunpoint. Police were called at 8:10 p.m. Sunday and were told the shop owner was chasing the robber. A motorist who nearly hit the robber told police the man got into a gold car with two passengers and headed north on Delaware Avenue.

Pa. teen dies in crash

NEW CASTLE, Pa. — A 16-year-old Pulaski resident died as a result of his injuries in a car crash on Pa. Route 108 in North Beaver Township. Sean Milliron of Heritage Circle was traveling west at a high rate of speed when he failed to round a curve at 4:12 p.m. Sunday. Pennsylvania State Police said his 2001 Chevrolet Blazer went off the south edge of the road and crashed into a tree. He was taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown where he later died.

Body found behind house

YOUNGSTOWN — A unidentified man’s body was discovered behind a boarded-up house at 312 Ayers St. on the East Side around 12:15 p.m. Monday. Police said it appeared to be an overdose. The body had apparently been there for a couple of days, said Detective Sgt. Daryl Martin.

Mosquito Creek walk

NILES — The Mahoning Valley Audubon Society and Trumbull Bird Survey will have a walk at 9 a.m. Saturday along the Mosquito Creek here. Participants are to meet in Kennedy Park and should dress for the weather.
