KFC, food bank team up

YOUNGSTOWN — Youngstown-area KFC restaurants, along with McLane Foods, are donating $500 worth of canned goods to the Second Harvest Food Bank of Mahoning Valley, 2805 Salt Springs Road, during World Hunger Relief Week, Oct. 14-20. “These statistics are truly staggering, and we’re extremely proud to join KFC restaurants worldwide in an effort to make a difference,” said James J. Liguori, chief operating officer of Morgan’s Foods, the operator of the Youngstown-area KFC restaurants. People can donate to the World Food Programme to help fight world hunger at any local KFC restaurant through Oct. 20. Nationally, a Colonel Sanders look-alike is hitting the road on a cross-country road trip to collect “Honks for Hunger Relief.” Any time a passer-by sounds a car horn when spotting the colonel, KFC will drop $1 in the bucket to help fight hunger.
