LAS VEGAS — Garrett Willis shot a 10-under 62 on the TPC Summerlin course for a share of the second-round lead. D.J. Trahan and rookie George McNeill matched Willis at 13-under 130. McNeill shot a 7-under 64 on the par-71 TPC The Canyons course and Trahan had a 64 on the same course in an event missing all of the world’s top-20 players. After playing The Canyons Thursday, Willis was 7 under on his back nine Friday to finish one stroke off the course record of 61 set by Davis Love III in 2001. Jason Gore and John Huston were tied for fourth at 12 under.

World Match Play Championship

VIRGINIA WATER, England — U.S. Open champion Angel Cabrera beat defending champion Paul Casey 4 and 3 in the second round. Six-time champion Ernie Els beat Andres Romero 6 and 5, and Henrik Stenson and Hunter Mahan also advanced. Stenson, the Accenture Match Play Championship winner in February, beat Anders Hansen 7 and 6, and Mahan topped Soren Hansen 6 and 4. In today’s semifinals, Cabrera will play Mahan, and Els will face Stenson.

SPRING, Texas — Bernhard Langer shot a 10-under 62 to take a four-stroke lead after the first round. The two-time Masters champion broke the Augusta Pines record of 63 set by Jay Haas last year in the second round.

Madrid Open

MADRID, Spain — Spain’s Alejandro Canizares shot a 6-under 66 for a share of the second-round lead. Argentina’s Daniel Vancsik had a 70 to match Canizares a 9-under 135. England’s Gary Lockerbie was a stroke back after a 68.
