Drew Carey to marry
culinary school grad

NEW YORK — Drew Carey has finally found Ms. Right. Carey, the new host of “The Price Is Right,” got engaged to Nicole Jaracz, a recent graduate of culinary school, on Tuesday, said his spokeswoman, Christina Papadopoulos. “It will be the first marriage for both. No date for a wedding has been set yet,” said Papadopoulos, adding that Carey and his bride-to-be are “very happy and excited about their future together.” No further details were provided. Carey, 49, will debut as host of the CBS game show on Monday. The comedian starred in his own ABC sitcom and also hosted the game shows “Power of 10” and “Whose Line is It Anyway?” In a recent interview with The Associated Press, Carey called “The Price Is Right” the perfect gig. “It’s like meeting the right girl,” he said. “This is a really good fit. I’m really comfortable here and it seems like I should have been doing this a long time ago.”

Roger Moore gets star
on Walk of Fame

LOS ANGELES — Best known for playing James Bond on the big screen, Roger Moore now has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in front of an address that includes the spy’s signature 007. Moore, 79, received his permanent spot on Hollywood Boulevard on Thursday, accompanied by friends and family. The British actor made seven Bond films, starting with “Live and Let Die” in 1973 and ending 12 years later with “A View to a Kill.” He paid homage to the number of women he kissed on-screen while adapting Ian Fleming’s leading man. “Sadly, I had to retire from the Bond films,” Moore said. “The girls were getting younger or I was just getting too old.”

Regis Philbin to host
new version of ‘Password’

LOS ANGELES — A new version of the classic game show “Password” is coming to CBS with Regis Philbin as host and a big-money prize. The network said Thursday that it has ordered six episodes of “Million Dollar Password” and plans to show the program early next year. “I’m thrilled to be part of this great show that I remember so well from a few years ago,” Philbin said in a statement. “It was a very classy production, and Allen Ludden was so terrific.” Ludden, who died in 1981, was host of the original “Password,” which debuted as a CBS daytime show in 1961 before moving to prime time. Later versions ran in syndication and on NBC through the 1980s with Tom Kennedy and then Bert Convy as host. As with the original “Password,” the updated version will feature two teams, each made up of a celebrity and a contestant. The teams will compete to guess a password revealed to the studio audience and viewers. The team with the highest score can decide to keep its winnings or try to reach a final round with a $1 million grand prize, said producer FremantleMedia North America.
