WARREN — Diane Sauer, president of Diane Sauer Chevrolet, was honored Friday with the Pendleton Award during a Good Morning Warren presentation.

City officials, leaders and business people were on hand at Enzo’s on Elm Road to recognize Sauer and her accomplishments.

The dealership moved in 2004 from West Market Street to the corner of South Street and Niles Road. Sauer had several opportunities to leave Warren, but instead expanded her business to a 45,000-square-foot facility.

The Regional Chamber’s Warren Area Council began giving the Pendleton Award in 2003 to honor city businesses based on business ethics, longevity, commitment to the city, community involvement, aesthetics and employment history.

The award is named after Alec Pendleton and the Pendleton family. This longtime Warren family was instrumental in revitalizing much of downtown Warren, Heather McMahon, city urban design and grants coordinator, said at the breakfast.

Mayor Michael O’Brien described Sauer with two words: respect and loyalty. He said her commitment to the community should not go unnoticed and he is happy that her business is downtown.

Sauer is also active in the community. She is on the executive committee of the Forum Health board, and the Trumbull County Educational Services Center governing board. She’s also active in Trumbull County United Way and the Warren Rotary.

Past winners of the Pendleton Award are: Thom Duma Fine Jewelers, Title Professionals, AVI Foodsystems, The Book Nook, Paige and Byrnes Insurance, McFarland Funeral Home and Covelli Enterprises.
