Friday’s Best Bets on TV

“The Wizards of Waverly Place” (9:30 p.m., Disney Channel): Will Selena Gomez be the latest “it” kid to emerge from the Disney Channel talent factory? She has a starring role in “The Wizards of Waverly Place,” a new comedy about a group of kids in Manhattan trying to harness their budding magical powers.

“Men In Trees” (10 p.m., ABC): What, did you think this frothy romantic dramedy got canceled? You’re not the only one. Last spring, ABC yanked the freshman show off the air with five episodes left, leaving loyal “Tree” huggers to wonder what the heck was going on. (The network was trying out another drama, “October Road.”) Now, eight months later, we finally have a chance to return to the dinky — and impossibly quirky — burg of Elmo, Alaska, where Marin (Anne Heche) is still looking for happiness. In this week’s opener, hunky Cash decides to take Marin to see a guru in order to help her deal with her personal issues. But on the way back down the mountain trail, they get stuck in a vicious storm.

“America’s Psychic Challenge” (10 p.m., Lifetime): Psychics, both amateur and professional, put their clairvoyance to the test in this eight-week series. The series pits the psychics against one another in groups of four, with the top psychics facing off in the finale. (As psychics, shouldn’t they already know who the winner will be?) John Burke is the host.

“Say Yes to the Dress” (10 p.m., TLC): White, or not quite? Hunting that perfect wedding gown is a bridal ritual. This 13-week series tracks three brides-to-be each week as they, their families and their friends land at the 35,000-square-foot Kleinfeld Bridal in New York City. Will the women’s dress quest be a success?

“Women’s Murder Club” (9 p.m., ABC): What do you get when you mix “Sex and the City” with “CSI”? “Women’s Murder Club.” It’s a new crime procedural starring Angie Harmon as a San Francisco detective who solves crimes with the help of her girlfriends — a reporter, a D.A. and a medical examiner. When they’re not nabbing bad guys, they gossip over drinks at the bar.
