Trumbull awards banquet set for Nov. 2
CORTLAND — Comedian Jay Hendren, known as the “Country’s Funniest Farmer,” will perform at the Trumbull Soil and Water Conservation District’s 57th annual awards banquet Nov. 2 at Garden Brook Banquet Center on state Route 5.
Hendren is a Licking County, Ohio, native who spends half of his time farming and half as standup comedian.
Election of one board supervisor will occur from 5:30 to 6:35 p.m. Voters do not have to stay for the banquet. The two candidates are Tracie Campbell of Bristol Township and Bruce Lev of Liberty Township.
Following dinner at 6:45, the SWCD will present awards to those who have contributed to natural-resources preservation over the past year. Trumbull County Engineer John Latell will receive the district’s top award, known as the Bill Penn Memorial award.
Tickets can be purchased at the district office, 520 West Main Street, Cortland, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Tickets cost $10 per person, children 12 and under free, and deadline for reservations is Oct. 26.
