Remember when the Canfield Fair used to have a freak show? Well the freaks are back as part of a free midway attraction at the Canfield Scaregrounds (yes, that’s the Fairgrounds) Haunted House and Hayride. The “freaks” are promoted carnival-style in a tent, with a barker drumming up interest. There’s a bodyless head and pygmy werewolves, to name a few. The Scaregrounds points out that it’s a tribute to a freak show, not the real thing. “It’s both scary and hilarious,” says Dominic Baragona, who runs the event. “It’s just something so completely new and weird that it was a natural for us to do.” The Scaregrounds are open Thursday through Sunday evenings.
