Judge continues state case against Calcutta gaming center

LISBON — Judge C. Ashley Pike of Columbiana County Common Pleas Court this morning agreed to a continuance in a lawsuit filed by Ohio Attorney General Mark Dann against Strike It Rich Gaming Center in Calcutta.

Atty. Joseph King, who represents the center, said he asked for a 60-day continuance, and James Boyle, the assistant attorney general assigned to the case, agreed.

The entry setting the date for the hearing has not been written.

Dann’s office wanted a preliminary injunction to stop the center from operating. The hearing was set for this afternoon, and could have been the first of its kind in the state.
