AUSTINTOWN — Fuel and Alter Bridge are coming to The Wedge. Tickets go on sale Saturday for both shows at the Wedge box office and online at atthewedge.com.

The Fuel concert, which includes opening act Submersed, will be Nov. 7. Tickets are $17.50

The Alter Bridge concert, which includes opener Another Animal, is Nov. 20. Tickets are $20. The Wedge is in the Wedgewood Plaza, New Road at Raccoon Road.

Eclectic pianist to perform
in concert at museum

YOUNGSTOWN — Pianist Thollem McDonas will perform at the McDonough Museum at 6 p.m. Oct. 19. The concert is free. McDonough Museum is on Wick Avenue, near Bliss Hall on the Youngstown State University campus.

McDonas’ music is diverse, with each album exploring different paths. He has played in gamelan ensembles, African drumming troupes, punk bands, improv duets and in abandoned warehouses, jazz clubs, rock clubs, concert halls, houses, gardens and riots. A 2006 recipient of the NEA Meet the Composers Grant, McDonas has four new albums coming out on four different labels from three different countries this fall. Kidz Bop coming to Chevy

YOUNGSTOWN — Kidz Bop, a rock concert for children that features a live band and child vocalists, will come to Chevrolet Centre at 4 p.m. Nov. 4. Tickets range from $20 to $35, and are available at the box office, online at Gettix.net, or by calling (866) 443-8849.

Drum-Off winner

BOARDMAN — Garrison Brown of Boardman won the Guitar Center Youngstown Drum-Off store final last week. He outperformed five other drummers and will advance to the district finals Oct. 24 in Cleveland. The drummers in the national contest are judged on their originality, skill, technique, style and stage presence.

Garrison received a prize package valued at more than $350.

Fashion lecture

WARREN — Anne Bissonnette, curator of the Kent State University Museum, will present “Victorian Tea Gowns and How Modern Fashion Evolved from Them,” at the Sutliff Museum on Tuesday. For her lecture, Bissonnette will draw on her extensive background in fashion design and her study of costumes, textiles and history.

Attendees are invited to bring one or two antique garments, pieces of jewelry, or accessories for Bissonnette to help identify and discuss. She will talk about how to care for and preserve them.

The program will be held in the Thomas Room on the second floor of the Warren-Trumbull County Public Library. Coffee will be served at 10 a.m. and Bissonnette will talk at 10:30 a.m.
