Adams’ DNA confirmed in cold murder case

YOUNGSTOWN — Investigators received confirmation today that Bennie Adams’ DNA was present on evidence collected from 19-year-old Gina Gay Tenney’s body 22 years ago, said City Prosecutor Jay Macejko.

Adams, 50, of Hollywood Avenue was arrested last week and charged with the rape and murder of Tenney, who was found floating in the Mahoning River on Dec. 30, 1985.

When taken into custody, a DNA sample was taken from Adams. A Mahoning County grand jury handed up an indictment against Adams on the charges today.
