Eclectic pianist to perform at museum
YOUNGSTOWN — Pianist Thollem McDonas will perform at the McDonough Museum at 6 p.m. Oct. 19. The concert is free. McDonough Museum is on Wick Avenue, near Bliss Hall on the Youngstown State University campus.
McDonas’ music is diverse, with each album exploring different paths. He has played in gamelan ensembles, African drumming troupes, punk bands, improv duets and in abandoned warehouses, jazz clubs, rock clubs, concert halls, houses, gardens and riots. A 2006 recipient of the NEA Meet the Composers Grant, McDonas has four new albums coming out on four different labels from three different countries this fall.
