Negotiations continue
AUSTINTOWN — Contract negotiations are continuing after workers at a key supplier to the General Motor’s Lordstown complex gave their union leaders the authority to call a strike if necessary. The contract between Comprehensive Logistics and the United Steelworkers of America expires Oct. 16.
Comprehensive operates a warehouse on Victoria Road where it receives parts for the auto plant and arranges them in order for assembly. It handles 85 percent of the parts shipped to the Lordstown plant.
Union officials could not be reached. Don Constantini, president of Comprehensive, said the union’s vote is a routine part of negotiations. “I’m optimistic that we’ll come to an agreement before the deadline,” he said.
