BREAKING RECORDS Heat-resistant chips

Baked or fried? NASA Glenn is breaking records with computer chips that are performing after more than 2,300 hours cooking in ovens up to 932 degrees Fahrenheit.

Hot stuff: The real-life applications for such heat-resistant chips could be useful in rockets, oil drills, fire sensors, cars, maybe even a spacecraft to Venus.

What’s next? The researchers are trying to book a flight in a few years for their chips to guide a test device in space.
