73-year-old woman goes to jail on drug-trafficking charge

YOUNGSTOWN — Police armed with a search warrant arrested Alberta McGauley, 73, in her Oak Lane home on a drug trafficking charge.

Police raided the house at 1547 Oak Lane on the city’s East Side shortly after 6 p.m. this evening and said they found McGauley sitting at the kitchen table.

They also found a 0.15-ounce rock of suspected crack cocaine and some suspected crack residue on the table. Five foil bindles of suspected crack were found in a coat on a chair next to her and $690 was found in her pockets, police said.

Officers also found a loaded 9 mm handgun under a cushion on a love seat in her living room, police said. She was lodged in Mahoning County Jail to await arraignment Wednesday.
