MERCER COUNTY Sentencings
These people were sentenced last week in Mercer County Common Pleas Court. According to court documents:
Brandon Chandler, 21, of Broad Street, Grove City, was sentenced to 29 months to five years in state prison for felony aggravated assault and statutory sexual assault and for two misdemeanors, corruption of minors and furnishing liquor to minors. Chandler stabbed another man in the chest with a knife April 29, 2006, injuring him so severely he had to be flown by helicopter to a Pittsburgh hospital. He also engaged in sexual intercourse with a 15-year-old girl, the same day, and on April 21, 2006 furnished beer to a 15-year-old girl and engaged in sexual intercourse with her although she told him several times to stop. All the incidents took place at Chandler’s residence.
Eugene Felix, 37, of Centertown Road, Grove City, was fined $250 for a misdemeanor count of failing to confine his dog. From Aug. 13 to 16, 2006, Felix let his 6-year old female mixed breed dog wander onto a neighbor’s property. The offense is a misdemeanor because Felix had previously been found guilty four times of allowing his dogs to run at large.
Violet Flowers, 55, of South Oakland Avenue, Sharon, was sentenced to three to 12 months in the Mercer County Jail for possession with intent to unlawfully deliver cocaine, a felony. She was apprehended Feb. 14, 2005, on Wallis Avenue, Farrell, with cocaine in her possession.
Michelle Gavins, 29, of Parke Drive, Hermitage was sentenced to three to 18 months in the Mercer County Jail and ordered to make restitution for a consolidated count of felony theft by deception. In March and August, 2006, she passed 44 altered checks written on a closed account to three Hermitage grocery stores for a total $3,526. She also used false driver’s license numbers for identification.
Robert Tumpak, 51, of Clinton Street, Greenville, was ordered to perform 50 hours’ community services for theft by unlawful taking, a misdemeanor. He stole $10 worth of gas Oct. 17, 2006 at 2381 S. Hermitage Road.
Brent Williams, of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, was placed on one year’s probation for misdemeanor retail theft. He stole steaks and three DVD players worth a total $281 from Wal-Mart, 1275 Hermitage Road, Hermitage Dec. 9, 2006.
Douglas Lee Jones, of West Park Road, Slippery Rock, was sentenced to one to 18 months in the Mercer County Jail for indecent exposure and criminal mischief, both misdemeanors. He exposed himself Jan. 9 to an 11-year-old girl in Pine Township, grabbed her while he was naked, and damaged 23 pairs of underwear belonging the child.
Samantha Simon, 21, of Clintonville Road, Mercer, was placed on two years’ probation for retail theft and two consolidated counts of bad checks. Simon passed $530 worth of bad checks in October and November, 2006 to County Market, Pine Square, Pine Township. She also stole six video game discs worth $119 from Wal-Mart, 1566 Main St. Ext., Pine Township Nov. 30, 2006.
