Events celebrate Vukovich 60th anniversary

XHUBBARD — Family and friends attended a lamb roast-family reunion July 28 at Strossmayer Picnic Center in Vienna as Joe and Marie Vukovich, 250 Drummond Ave., celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.

The gathering was hosted by the couple’s children and their spouses, Joe and Ruth Vukovich of Hubbard, Joan and Joe Guido of Cortland, and Bill Vukovich of Charleston, S.C. The couple also have four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

The couple were also honored at a Mass on July 29 at Sts. Peter and Paul Church in Youngstown, where Mr. Vukovich and the former Marie Kunovic were married Sept. 6, 1947.

Mrs. Vukovich, a homemaker, attends Bible study and Adult Spiritual Growth, and has been active 35 years in Christian/Jewish Dialogue with the Rev. George Balasko.

Mr. Vukovich retired in 1981 as a supervisor at Sawhill Tubular Co. in Sharon.

He belongs to the Croatian Fraternal Union Lodge 66 and the Knights of Columbus, and is a World War II veteran, having served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army.

The Vukoviches are members of St. Patrick Church in Hubbard.
