Schuler helps lift Tigers to first win
Ryan Williams helped Columbiana roll past Lisbon.
NEW MIDDLETOWN — Nate Schuler accounted for 288 total yards and his touchdown run put Springfield High ahead for good, as the Tigers defeated East Palestine 21-14 for their first win of the season Friday night.
Schuler’s 58-yard scamper gave the Tigers a 12-7 lead with 8:01 remaining in the third quarter, and Bryan Visingardi’s two-point conversion made it 14-7. Jarrod Lewis caught a 5-yard pass from Schuler later in the quarter to make it 21-7.
Springfield (1-6, 1-3 Inter Tri-County League Tier One) had 371 total yards to the Bulldogs’ 229.
Nick Biamonte had seven receptions for 118 yards and a touchdown for East Palestine (3-4, 1-3). George Smith completed 14-of-35 passes for 181 yards, including a 50-yard TD pass to Biamonte in the second quarter.
Ron Snyder opened the scoring with a 17-yard run for Springfield in the first quarter, and Ryan Dilworth scored for East Palestine on a 5-yard run with just over four minutes remaining in the game.

COLUMBIANA — Ryan Williams led a potent Clipper attack to 360 yards and a methodical victory.
Williams, from his quarterback position, rushed nine times for 106 yards and two touchdowns, and completed 3-of-9 passes for 48 yards and two more scores, as Columbiana (6-1, 4-0 ICTL) remained tied for first in Tier One.
Josh Hertel added 77 yards and a touchdown rushing for the Clippers, while T.J Hiznay and Brian Warchol caught scoring passes. Justin Finley also scored a rushing TD.
Dana Rose rushed for 24 yards and passed for 68 to lead the Blue Devils (2-5, 0-4).
