Brookfield tops LaBrae in the TAC

LEAVITTSBURG — Matt Palumbo hauled in a 55-yard touchdown pass from Brookfield quarterback Devin O’Brien with two minutes left in the third quarter to break a 20-20 tie and the Warriors held on for a 26-20 victory over the Vikings in a Trumbull Athletic Conference game Friday.

Palumbo also caught a 60-yard pass from O’Brien, who completed 8 of 12 passes for 192 yards and three TDs for the Warriors (5-2, 2-2). O’Brien also had 74 yards rushing.

Cameron Truss rushed 27 times for 209 yards and two touchdowns to lead LaBrae (3-4, 1-3).

NEWTON FALLS — Chris Wildman rushed for 253 yards on 24 carries, which included touchdown runs of 7, 3, 9, 3 and 10 yards for the Golden Flashes (4-3, 1-3 TAC).

Joe Zigler of Newton Falls (1-6, 0-4) caught a 10-yard TD pass from Brian Sole and he also scored on an 86-yard kickoff return.
