Series: Mount Union leads, 34-13-1.
Scouting report: Mount Union rolled past Heidelberg last Saturday, 62-3, while Ohio Northern beat Otterbein, 27-14. RB Nate Kmic became MUC’s all-time career rushing leader with 123 yards to give him 4,023 for his career. Last year, Kmic set the Purple Raiders’ single-season rushing record with 2,365 yards. Other leaders in the win were QB Greg Micheli, who fired three TD passes after throwing a career-high four the week before; DT Pat McCullough with three sacks to lead the MUC defense that had a season-high eight sacks; and Matt Kostelnick delivered the sixth blocked punt of his career. In addition, coach Larry Kehres recorded his 250th win at the Purple Raiders’ helm (250-20-3), to become only the fifth current football coach in NCAA all divisions to reach 250 wins.

Scouting report: Westminster’s 14-7 Homecoming win over Grove City last Saturday gave the Titans their first 3-1 start since 2000. Sophomore QB Kevin Frantz completed 19 of 26 passes for 188 yards, including a 6-yard strike to senior Jason Discello in the second quarter that provided the winning points. Discello had six catches to equal his career-high performance, and he had a career-high 77 receiving yards. Sophomore RB Nick McKolosky rushed for 108 yards in 26 carries. Junior LB Jordan Blinn led the Titans’ defense with eight tackles and a pass break-up.

Scouting report: Thiel beat Bethany, 37-13, last Saturday for its first PAC win, while W&J romped past Saint Vincent, 64-6. The Presidents set four school records in the process: total offense (863), rushing yards (424), passing yards (439) and field goals (5). In Thiel’s victory, senior RB Steve Minton set a school record for rushing yards with 238 in 24 carries and two TDs of 76 and 23 yards. He eclipsed Justin Napotnik, who ran 225 yards in Thiel’s 31-28 win over Kenyon on Nov. 15, 2003.

Scouting report: Bethany lost its PAC opener last Saturday to Thiel, 37-13; while Grove City suffered a 14-7 loss to Westminster. In Bethany’s loss, freshman Marcus Santini rushed for 78 yards, while senior Chance Kildow had 12 tackles to lead the defensive charge. In Grove City’s loss, QB Andrew DiDonato completed 19 passes and accounted for 210 yards, including a team-best 75 yards rushing, while senior SE Jay Yanak had seven receptions. FS Zach Fulmer led the defense with 10 tackles, including seven solo hits.

Scouting report: Geneva won its 500th football game last Saturday with a 29-7 victory over LaSalle, while coach Geno DeMarco won his 99th game. Geneva is ranked No. 2 in the NCCAA national poll, which will determine the participants for the 2007 Victory Bowl. The Golden Tornadoes trail only NAIA powerhouse Mid-America Nazarene in the poll. Salisbury cruised past Apprentice School, 62-14, to climb five spots to No. 13 in the American Football Coaches Association poll. The Sea Gulls have won eight straight games dating back to last year, and are off to their best start since 2004 when they went 10-0. Geneva’s defense led the way against LaSalle by forcing five turnovers and returning two fumbles for touchdowns.

In Hiram’s win, senior Tom Canitia made 12 tackles and 1.5 for a loss of 5 yards to lead the Terriers’ defense. Freshman Steve Hammond caught six passes for 76 yards and a touchdown for Hiram.

Series: Wabash leads, 4-3.
Scouting report: Allegheny blanked Denison last Saturday, 14-0, for its first shutout win since 2005 and third straight win. Wabash won by 54-20 over Earlham last Saturday to stay unbeaten. In Allegheny’s win over Denison, QB T.J. Salopek accounted for 239 of the Gators' 261 yards of offense. He completed 18 of 30 passes for 171 yards and one TD while rushing for 68 yards in 14 carries. Ross Simcoe led Allegheny’s defense with 13 tackles and one sack for a 5-yard loss. Punter Jason Black (Champion) averaged 39.5 yards in eight punts, including one kick that was tipped by a defender. Three of his punts stopped inside Denison 20-yard line.

Walsh (3-2, 0-1 MSFA Mideast)
vs. Urbana (4-1, 1-0 MSFA Mideast)

Series: Walsh leads, 12-0.
Scouting report: Walsh lost by only three points to NAIA No. 2 Saint Xavier, 13-10, last Saturday to drop three places on the NAIA Top 25 Poll to No. 15. The Cavs entered the game with a 44.5-point average. St. Xavier (5-0, 1-0 MSFA Mideast) was held to one TD. Urbana is ranked No. 24 in the NAIA poll.

Series: Malone leads, 5-4.
Scouting report: Malone was able to overcome several defensive injuries and a controversial ruling on the game’s opening kickoff to come away with the 17-point victory on the road over Marian (Ind.), in the Pioneers’ MSFA Mideast opener last Saturday. Taylor fell to Urbana last Saturday, 51-6. RB Bernard Payton and QB Billy Bob Orsagh keyed the Pioneers’ offense. Payton rushed for 138 yards in 33 carries, caught four passes for 65 yards and scored four TDs (three rushing and one receiving). Orsagh completed 24 of 37 passes for 278 yards with three TDs and just one interception.

Slippery Rock (4-1)
vs. East Stroudsburg (1-3)

When: 1 p.m., Eiler-Martin Stadium, East Stroudsburg, Pa.
Scouting report: Slippery Rock of the PSAC West Division lost to Indiana (Pa.) last Saturday, 34-31, when Matt McNelis kicked a 28-yard field goal as time expired. East Stroudsburg of the PSAC East Division lost to Millersville last Saturday, 36-24. The Rock was led by QB Nate Crookshank and RB Cory Manfull (United). Crookshank completed 10 of 19 passes for 206 yards and one TD, including a 58-yard toss to Paul Favers. Manfull rushed for 99 yards in 18 carries and two TDs on 2 yards and 1 yard before injuring his shoulder in the first half. He did not play the second half. Ryan Lehmeier tied the game for SRU at 31-31 on a 37-yard run TD run with 8:48 left.
