55 schools will send runners for Legends
Saturday’s cross country race will be at the Trumbull County Fairgrounds.
BAZETTA — Some of the state’s best distance runners representing 55 schools will compete in the Legends cross country championships Saturday at the Trumbull County Fairgrounds.
Junior High runs will get the meet started at 8 a.m.
A Division III varsity boys race is set for 10 a.m., followed by Div. III girls, 10:30; Div. II varsity boys, 11:10; Div. II varsity girls, 11:40; Div. I varsity boys, 12:20 p.m.; Div. I varsity girls, 12:50; and boys and girls open runs at 1:30 and 2.
Area schools entered are Badger, Boardman, Bristol, Champion, Columbiana, Fitch, Hubbard, Lakeview, Maplewood, McDonald, Warren JFK and Warren Harding.
Metro Athletic Conference
SALEM — The Canfield High boys and Salem girls will defend their MAC cross country championships at Memorial Park.
The boys varsity run is scheduled for 10 a.m. to be followed by girls varsity and boys and girls middle school races.
Poland, Struthers, Howland and Niles also are entered in the meet.
Diocese Invitational Meet
CANTON — Mooney’s Christina Oles will be one of the area runners to watch in the Diocese Invitational Saturday at the Canton Central Catholic High course.
The Ursuline, Louisville St. Thomas Aquinas, Ashtabula St. John-Paul, Canton CC and Mooney varsity boys run is set for 2 p.m. and the varsity girls race at 2:45.
Western Reserve Invitational
BERLIN CENTER — The Lordstown High boys and East Canton High girls will defend titles Saturday at the eighth Western Reserve Invitational cross country meet.
A girls varsity run is scheduled for 10 a.m., followed by boys varsity and girls and boys middle school races.
East Canton’s Caitlin Sharp and Jackson-Milton’s Samantha Hamilton, who placed 1-2 last year, are back.
Last year’s boys champion, Lordstown’s Jake DiEugenio, will defend his title against Mineral Ridge’s Joshua Palmer, among others.
