Sharon, Pa.: UPMC Horizon Community Health Foundation fourth annual Boo Ball at The Corinthian, 47 Vine Ave. Doors open at 7 p.m. Tickets are $35 each or $300 for a table of 10. Columbiana: Detwiler Farm, 4520 Renkenberger Road, noon to 5 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays through Oct. 28. Cost is $3 per person. The hayrides consist of a trip to the pumpkin patch where you will be able to pick your own pumpkin or pumpkins from everything in the field. The entire ride is about 15 minutes long, plus whatever time you spend roaming the fields. Activities at the market include a petting zoo, cornfield maze and a straw maze. The petting zoo is filled with an assortment of farm animals eager to be fed. The corn maze spans approximately four acres of twists, turns and dead ends. The straw maze is geared toward youngsters,but anyone is welcome to attempt. The straw maze is a tunnel made out of straw bales. (330) 482-2276.

Niles: Frightville, in the former Kahunaville location at Eastwood Mall. Jungle-theme decor is used to create a theatrical atmosphere. More than 50 actors will prowl the twisting halls, which will include spine-tingling scenes. Entrance is next to the mall’s main front entrance. Youngstown: Halloween at Mill Creek MetroParks Judge Morley Pavilion, 6 - 8 p.m. Oct. 20. The excitement starts at 6 p.m. with the mummy wrap competition for families, followed by the pie-eating contest for adults. A stage show performed by Jocko the Clown. Children of all ages can compete for prizes in the costume competition at 7 p.m. Pet owners can bring their animals dressed in costumes for a special competition.

Mercer, Pa.: Mercer County’s Historical Society Lantern Walking Tour of Mercer’s Cemeteries, Oct. 10, 17 and 24. Bill Philison, MCHS executive director, will lead a tour of Mercer Borough Cemeteries, focusing on various aspects of the Civil War. The program is approximately 7 to 9 p.m. Bring flashlights and walking shoes. The walk is in excess of 1.5 miles. Donations will be accepted to benefit the Old Mercer Cemetery and the Western Pennsylvania Civil War Re-enactors Society. Warren: Ghost Walk, leaves from First Presbyterian Church, 256 Mahoning Ave., approximately every 10 minutes. Visitors will be guided to historic homes and mansions along Mahoning Avenue as well as into the pioneer cemetery where costumed actors and actresses re-enact true stories about Trumbull County’s past. For all ages. Opens at 6:30 p.m. and last group leaves at 9 p.m. Oct. 12, 13, 19 and 20. Pre-sale tickets are $4 for adults and $2 for children under 16 and are available from B&K Market, 2396 Elm Road, Cortland; Packard Music Hall, 1703 Mahoning Ave., Warren; Blue Iris, 176 N. Youngstown: Pumpkin Walk at Twilight, Mill Creek MetroParks Riverside Gardens, 5-8 p.m. Oct. 21. Jack-O-Lanterns will be smiling as you stroll about the gardens at twilight. Harvest decorations will be on display throughout Fellows Riverside Gardens. Learn why a bat is a gardener's best buddy. Enjoy refreshments in the Davis Center after the walk.

Youngstown: “Weird Ohio: Ghostly Tales & Haunted Traditions” at Youngstown Historical Center, 151 W. Wood St. (across from St. Columba). Noon to 3 p.m. Oct. 13 for children ages 8-12.
