GREENVILLE, Pa. — The Greenville Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Dr. Michael Gelfand, will open its season with a concert of Latin American music at 3 p.m. Sunday in the auditorium of Greenville High School.
Joining the symphony for the concert will be Eric Schrader and the Greenville High School Steel Band.
Tickets are $15 for adults and $13 for senior citizens and will be available at the door. Children and students are free.
Nonpoint, Skindred
headline show at Wedge
AUSTINTOWN — Tickets will go on sale Saturday for the Great American Rampage Tour, which will come to The Wedge on Nov. 6, featuring Nonpoint, Skindred, Ankla and Karnivool.
Tickets are $14 and will be available at The Wedge box office, or online at realrock104.com. The Wedge is located in Wedgewood Plaza, at the intersection of Raccoon and New roads.
This year’s tour is the first in what is expected to be an annual event.
Jewish cooking series
YOUNGSTOWN — The Jewish Community Center will offer a three-part cooking series called Jewish Cooking for the Soul, which will feature a different local chef for each session. The first demonstration will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Oct. 24, with caterer Joan Schwebel, who will instruct participants on how to prepare a traditional Shabbat meal. Kidz Bop coming to Chevy
YOUNGSTOWN — Kidz Bop, a rock concert for children that features a live band and child vocalists, will come to Chevrolet Centre at 7 p.m. Nov. 29. Tickets range from $20 to $35, and are available at the box office, online at Gettix.net, or by calling (866) 443-8849.
Plays written by students
YOUNGSTOWN — The Ursuline High School theater department will present an evening of student-directed and written one-act plays at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 13 at the school’s Deibel-Morley Auditorium.
Ursuline High’s International Thespian Troupe 5185 is participating in the national community service program Trick or Treat so Kids Can Eat and will be collecting as an admission canned and dry goods which will be donated to Second Harvest Food Bank of the Mahoning Valley.
