Cards’ Kaleel in sectional quarterfinals

CANTON — Kaitlin Kaleel of Canfield High School reached the quarterfinals as she won three matches in the girls Division I Sectional Tennis Tournament Wednesday at Weis Park.

Kaleel defeated Kayleigh Drummon of Boardman 6-1, 6-0; Alex Brinkman of Fitch, 6-1, 6-0 and Nicky Coates of Barberton, 6-0, 6-1 to advance.

Christina Brant and Lauren Sulick of Canfield, the top-seeded doubles team will face unseeded Brittany Miller and Sangitha Krishnan of Boardman in the title match Saturday. Both teams advanced by winning three matches.

4 singles matches set today

STRUTHERS — The top four singles seeds in the girls Division II sectional tennis tournament advanced: Mariah Mastardi of Ravenna takes on Caitlin Costal of Salem, Alyssa Tom of Poland goes against Jenna Alloush of Warren JFK, Marissa Nocera faces Angie Prato of Mooney and Brianne Thomas of Mooney meets Gabriele Brocker of Poland today in quarterfinal matches.

The four winners will advance to Saturday’s semifinals at Canfield High School.

Megan Bennett-Jessica Mullis of Poland, Jaclyn DiDomenico-Allison St. George of Mooney, Alexa Marino-Danielle Mullis of Poland and Alison Rossi-Gina Fredericka of Warren JFK have advanced to Saturday’s semifinals.

Bennett and Mullis qualified for the state tournament in doubles last year.

Mastardi and Tom qualified for districts in singles and Marino, Rossi and Fredericka qualified for district in doubles.
