Area companies have announced the following promotions and hirings:
ACCOUNTING
Stephanie Childers and Tracie Stephens, certified public accountants, have been promoted to managers at Schroedel, Scullin & Bestic in Canfield. Childers, who has been with the firm 11 years, had been a supervisor, focusing her efforts in the areas of accounting/auditing, tax planning and tax preparation. She earned a bachelor’s degree from Youngstown State University. Stephens, who has been with the firm six years, will continue to concentrate her efforts in the areas of business consulting, tax planning and accounting/auditing. She earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Akron.
BANKING
First Place Bank named Ky Pegues of Youngstown as a branch sales manager at its Westgate Financial Center in Austintown. She has 18 years of banking experience and a bachelor’s degree from Hiram College.
The Home Savings and Loan Co. named Diana Nelms of East Liverpool as assistant vice president/branch sales manager of its Lisbon office. She has 22 years of banking experience, most recently working for Wachovia N.A.
Home Savings also hired Mike Quinn of Pittsburgh as mortgage loan originator. With 10 years of mortgage loan experience, Quinn most recently was employed by Countrywide Home Loans. He holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Notre Dame.
SERVICE
Edward Petrunak has been named director of the Business Institute of Pennsylvania’s campuses in Sharon, Pa., and Meadville, Pa. He has more than 30 years of experience in post-secondary education and most recently was director of the Winner Institute of Arts & Sciences in Transfer, Pa.
HEALTH CARE
Suzanne Hughes of Hudson, formerly of Youngstown, has been named director of health education and research at Robinson Memorial Hospital in Ravenna. She previously was manager for clinical staff development at Whole Health Management. Hughes received her master’s degree in nursing from Kent State University, her bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Akron and an associate degree in nursing from Youngstown State University.
RETAIL
Dave Johnson has been named store manager at the Tractor Supply Co. store that is under construction in New Castle. He has managed several stores for the chain, including the Hermitage location.
